AKSK Conducts the National Simulation Exercise on Cyber Crisis Management

The National Cyber Security Authority (AKSK) conducted the National Cyber Crisis Management Simulation Exercise, bringing together representatives of state institutions and operators of the country’s critical and important information infrastructures.

The exercise was carried out as part of the implementation of the National Plan for Responding to Large-Scale Cybersecurity Incidents and Cyber Crises. Through a realistic simulation scenario, participants tested the national cyber crisis management procedures, interinstitutional coordination, information sharing, decision-making processes, and response to large-scale cyber incidents.

In his opening remarks, the Director General of AKSK and National Cybersecurity Coordinator, Mr. Bledar Kazia, emphasized that the exercise aims to assess the readiness of institutions to coordinate and respond effectively, while ensuring the continuity of essential services for citizens.

He highlighted that, following the cyberattacks of 2022, Albania has strengthened its national cybersecurity architecture through new legislation, enhanced institutional coordination mechanisms, and the establishment of the National CERT. According to him, effective cyber crisis management depends not only on technology but also on strong coordination, timely communication, and the proper implementation of clearly defined roles and responsibilities.

AKSK expresses its sincere appreciation to DCAF – Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance, UK International Development, and the German Federal Foreign Office for their valuable support in the organization and implementation of this exercise.
